NEWS: It was good to be back!

Publication date: 24 Apr 2009

Three years after his last visit to Malawi Richard Tully, the Glostavent's development engineer, went back in March to set up and train on Glostavents® purchased by Adventist Health International at their hospitals in Blantyre and Malamulu. "It really was good to be back. I was fortunate enough to be in Malawi at the same time as the WFSA were doing an anaesthesia refresher course and got to meet old friends and make new ones. The AHI Blantyre Hospital has an excellent reputation and Irene and Stephen, the anaesthetists, were superb. I stayed at AHI's guest houses which always makes life so much easier and I must thank everybody involved in making things go smoothly."

Once Richard had concluded his business with AHI he then went with Cyril Goddia and Kenneth Kapatuka to commission a further Glostavent® at Ckickwawa. " It's always good to talk to supporters and we had plenty of time to do that on the drive! They both do sterling work under difficult conditions and are to be complimented on their professionalism and commitment."

Rwanda was Richard's next stop to participate in the WFSA refresher course there. "It was the first time I've travelled with Roger in three years. He is still as committed to education in anaesthesia as ever and Rob and Jen were brilliant team members. The course was particularly well attended and the level of enthusiasm extremely high. A team from Dalhousie University were there shortly before I arrived and were able to brief me on current conditions. Very helpful and a great example of how feedback, both positive and negative, works."

Finally Richard flew to Kenya to commission a Glostavent® at Matata before flying back to the UK for four days , a quick breather prior to heading off for West Africa.
